The Call of Nature
Nature beckons with warm breezes, flutelike songs of thrushes, the promise of quiet moments on trails, the delight of stopping by a brook on a sunny morning, and the chance to learn about non-domestic-seeking creatures.
All year long, the Friends of Rye Nature Center work to ensure that more and more children, grown-ups, and seniors have access to nature. Through workshops, pre-and after-school programs, Forest School (started last fall), a mobile Nature Center (arrived this spring), family campouts, summer camp scholarships, birding lessons, garden projects, they have made a big imprint in and around our community.
On May 18, supporters wended their way up to the Rye Nature Center, where under a softly lit tent they celebrated the benefits of having a wonderful nature center.
