School of the Holy Child’s Head of School, William C. Hambleton, Ed.D., and Associate Director of Athletics, Beau Morki, pictured below, recently participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in memory of senior Leah Collier’s mother, Claire Gormley Collier ’80. Claire began a crusade for raising awareness about the disease and fundraising for ALS research through her Friends of Claire Foundation. Her lobbying efforts led to the introduction of the Claire Collier Social Security Disability Insurance Fairness Act in 2007.
Students, families, faculty, and staff at Holy Child raised close to $1,500 to support two organizations connected with ALS: ALS TDI is focused on research and MAC Angels supports local families affected by the disease.
Holy Child’s participation in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge provides a glimpse of the school at its best: working together to support an important initiative, and enjoying a lighthearted moment as a school community.
