Friday’s snowfall set the scene for an idyllic Old-Fashioned Winter’s Afternoon at the Rye Nature Center. Hundreds came up the hill and warmed up with toasted marshmallows, traditional family activities, and community conversation. All ages were ready to take aim at targets, compete in log-sawing contests, and hit the snow-covered trails. Many were content to sit by the fire and watch wood being carved into amazing sculptures and listen as man and nature awakened from a short winter’s nap.
