The Rising COVID Count
While many Westchester residents have already received their first Covid-19 vaccine or have a confirmed appointment, the sobering news is that the number of cases in the County jumped dramatically in the last six weeks, Thanksgiving Day through January 12, from 48,441 to 79,406. Over the same period, the number of fatalities rose from 1,510 to 1,744. This week, COVID patients occupied 547 of the 2,500 hospital beds in Westchester.
The message cannot be overemphasized: wear a mask, stay socially distant, and follow the guidelines issued by the State, the County, and the City.
