While many were recovering from New Year’s Eve celebrations, close to 100 brave souls joined in the Tenth Annual Ray’s Plunge on the first frosty day of the new year. The water temperature was 37, ten degrees colder than the air temperature.
The event raised $3,000, which will be split evenly between MAC Angels, which supports families with ALS, and the Challenged Athletes Foundation.
Ray’s Plunge is named for Ray Kelly, whose friends dared him to jump in the water one cold New Year’s morning 15 years ago. Not for the faint of heart, it grew into a charitable event that many look forward to. Close to 500 spectators were on hand this year.
