Athlete in the News
Three-Sport Scholar/Athlete Julie DeLitta
On December 7, Rye Neck High School’s Athletic Department held a signing ceremony for Julie DeLitta, who, in 2021, will be continuing her academic and athletic career at Lehigh University as a member of their Women’s Lacrosse program. She boasts a 92+ GPA and made the RNHS Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
This spring will be her fourth year as the starting goalie for Rye Neck’s Varsity Lacrosse team. In her high school career, she has participated in Under Armour All-America (one of just two goalies chosen from the New York/Connecticut region); played in the US Lacrosse National Tournament; been named All-League; and was Rye Neck’s Heisman Award winner.
And lacrosse isn’t the only sport she excels at. This three-sport athlete plays on the Girls’ Ice Hockey team and is a four-year starter and captain of Rye Neck’s Field Hockey team, which earned the No. 1 seed in the 2020 post-season.
Lehigh, a Division 1 school, competes in the highly competitive Patriot League against teams such as Loyola Maryland (ranked #1 in 2020), Navy, Army, and in non-league games against large universities such as Penn State.
