In the late 1970s, Studio 54 was the destination for discoing and clubbing. But
last weekend, the hottest ticket was for Garcia’s at The Capitol Theatre in Port
Chester. The venue was transformed into Studio 51 for The Rye Arts Center’s
spring benefit, Party with a Purpose. And that’s just what guests did, many of them
sporting wigs and far out-of-the-ordinary attire.
A big crowd gave generously to support arts education and raised their glasses to
the honorees: Sue Autry, advocate of public art and the inspiration for the
Rye’sAbove butterfly exhibits; Anne Fumasoli, longtime head of music,
performing arts, and outreach at the RAC, and Amy Vijayanagar, creator of the
Rye Poetry Path.
A special round of applause to the co-chairs: Simone and Ben Bonnet, Nicole and
Keith Cunningham, Michelle and Chris Froah, and Nicole and Rob Weber and
their fabulous committee.
