The Richardson Invitational held at Manursing Island Club always draws the best of college and local professional tennis players, and this year’s tournament over the first weekend in August was no exception. Worthy of mention is that 16-year-old Teddy Van Eck, who spent last year at the IMG Tennis Academy, was the youngest player in the tournament’s long history to make the semifinals. And Bo Curry, a recent Rye Country Day School grad, and his partner came within one point of ousting the No. 1 seeds.
In the fast-paced final round, DJ Geatz, Director of Tennis at Westchester Country Club, and Adrian Zguns, who was an All-American singles player at University of Arkansas, lost to Tin Ostojic and Tomislav Gregurovic, who play at Wichita State and are currently ranked 15th in the NCAA.
