A tractor-trailer crash closed the southbound side of Interstate-95 for more than an hour Friday backing up traffic for miles.
The crash took place at around 11:13 a.m. when a dump truck carrying gravel rolled over on its side near exit 19 (Playland Parkway) on I-95 in Rye, according to city fire officials.
The gravel was shot across all four lanes of the southbound side of the roadway, shutting down I-95 and diverting traffic to exit 19, according to fire officials.
An SUV was also involved in the crash, according to fire officials.
The drivers of both vehicles were able to get out on their own and were transported to the hospital EMS.
Firefighters had cleared the scene by 12:21 p.m.
New York State Police and the state Department of Transportation also responded.
