All roads in Rye were reopened Monday after stormwaters receded from the city’s latest summer storm.

More than 4 inches of rainfall accumulated Sunday, causing flooding and road closures throughout Rye. Playland Parkway, parts of Midland Avenue, and Milton Road near the marina were all closed into Sunday afternoon before the flash flood warning expired and all roads reopened.

After several storms surpassed the 1.5-inch mark of rain this summer, Sunday’s was the most disruptive of the season thus far. Police advised residents to avoid driving if at all possible, except for removing vehicles located in low-lying areas prone to flooding.

Rye firefighters, police, and the Department of Public Works responded to multiple water-related calls Sunday.
