The Biscegila siblings are state-bound.

Senior Myla Bisceglia and sophomore Derek Bisceglia both finished in the top nine of the Section 1 golf tournament on May 28 to punch their tickets to the New York state golf tournament.

The boys state championship is June 8-9 at Mill Creek Golf Club in Churchville. The girls championship is the same day at Wild Wood Country Club in Rush. Both towns are near Rochester, giving the family a shot at catching both halves of the brother-sister duo in the weekend competition.

“Very good genes,” Rye golf coach Rich Savage said of the Bisceglias, whose older brother Trent was also an all-league golfer as a senior last season at Rye. “They both belong to Winged Foot Country Club, and their dad was a junior club champion at the club.”

Derek finished fourth in the boys section championship with a score of 152, trailing only Yorktown brothers Joe and Kurt Carey and Scarsdale’s Leo Chu. He shot a 76 in round 1 on May 19 at Waccabuc Country Club and another 76 in round 2 on May 28 at Sleepy Hollow Country Club.

Myla finished in a three-way tie for sixth in the girls section championship with a score of 169. She shot an 86 in round 1 on May 19 at The Links at Union Vale in LaGrangeville, and an 83 in round 2 on May 28 at Whippoorwill Club in Armonk.

“Myla performed extremely well,” Savage said, “always coming up with a big shot at the appropriate time to keep her in the top nine to make the New York state team.”

Rye’s boys and girls teams each had two other athletes join the Bisceglias in the top 20 to receive all-section honors. Freshmen Ryker Kevorkian and Graham Erickson both shot a 164 to tie for 20th in the boys tournament. On the girls side, senior Matilda Glitterstam shot a 197 to finish 19th, and freshman Leila Kurbusi shot a 207 to finish 20th in the girls tournament.
