Focus on French Cinema, the acclaimed showcase for new and cutting-edge cinema from France and across the French-speaking world, returns to Connecticut and New York April 1-5. More than 20 films will be shown in five days, including César nominees and winners and an award-winning selection of shorts.
The festival opens with the U.S. premiere of Christian Carion’s epic war drama, <“En Mais, fais ce qu’il te plait”> (Come What May), starring Oliver Gourmet, at Bow Tie Cinemas in Greenwich. The film is set in May 1940 as German troops roll into France.
French actress Nathalie Baye, this year’s honoree, will present the closing night feature, <“La Volante”> (The Assistant), a thriller in which she stars, at the French Institute Alliance Française Florence Gould Hall in Manhattan.
Among the other film highlights are <“Demain”> (Tomorrow), winner of the César for best documentary; <“Dix Percent”> (Call My Agent!), the rage of France, which takes us into the madcap world of talent agents.
