Exum — McConnell
Caroline McClelland Exum and James Carey McConnell were married on September 28, 2018 at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye. Rev. Monsignor Donald Dwyer officiated the ceremony. A reception followed at American Yacht Club.
The bride’s sister, Kathryn McDavid, and best friend, Laura Wechsler, served as matrons of honor. The groom’s brothers, Graham McConnell and Max McConnell, served as best men.
Both the bride and groom are from Rye and met in high school through mutual friends at the St. Vincent’s Hospital Dance in 2003. They reconnected at the wedding of close friends in 2016 and began dating.
The groom is the son of Mathew J. McConnell Jr. and Helen Carey McConnell of Rye. The bride is the daughter of Susan Black Squires of Stamford, Connecticut, and Sherwood Exum Jr. of Charlottesville, Virginia, both formerly of Rye.
The bride is a graduate of School of the Holy Child and graduated cum laude from Bucknell University. She currently works as a marketing manager for Samsung Electronics in Manhattan.
The groom is a graduate of Iona Preparatory School and the University of Scranton. He received his juris doctorate from Fordham University School of Law. He currently works as an attorney for Fortress Investment Group in Manhattan.
