A West Harrison man, who was already facing drug charges in New Jersey, has now been caught with media that apparently showed the sexual abuse of children on two occasions in 2024 and 2025.

Richard Salerno Jr., 46, who worked in the athletics department of an unnamed school in the late 2000s, was arrested last month and charged with possessing and promoting obscene sexual performance by a child, both felonies, according to District Attorney Susan Cacace.

“Crimes against or involving children are a top priority for my administration,” Cacace said in a press release. “We will seek to hold accountable anyone who targets, exploits or injures children as part of their criminal conduct.”

Salerno was arraigned in Rye Town Court and pleaded not guilty. Bail was set at $5,000 cash, $10,000 bond or a $25,000 partially secured bond. He posted bail and is scheduled to appear in Harrison Town Court on Jan. 13.

Salerno, meanwhile, was already in hot water after being busted by Secaucus police in October for possessing cocaine and Xanax during an alleged drug buy.

Secaucus police’s anti-crime unit was on patrol when they spotted Salerno sitting in his vehicle alongside 51-year-old Martin Rocchio, of the Bronx. During a search, police also found Rocchio with cocaine, Xanax, and heroin.

Both men were arrested and Salerno was released pending a court appearance, according to police.

Anyone with additional information about Salerno was asked to call the Westchester DA’s tip line at (914) 995-TIPS (8477).
