The Rye Fire Department saved an old house on Maple Avenue on August 11. The call-out came at 6:02 a.m. for the two-story structure. Two residents were safely evacuated. The firefighters worked until almost noon to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.
RFD Chief Michael Taylor, assisted by Chiefs Peter Cotter and Michael Billington, led firefighters from Rye, Harrison, and the Town of Mamaroneck to battle the blaze. Also on the scene were Con Ed and Rye DPW, Port Chester-Rye-Rye Brook EMS, and officials from the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services.
