The Rye Country Day field hockey team is playing very competitively, upping its record to 7-3, despite the recent loss of senior captain Annie Grayer to a concussion.
The Wildcats have won five of the last six games dating back to October 2 when they beat Hamden Hall, 7-2.
In their most recent win over Masters, 7-0, at home on October 11, every healthy team member played. Six different players scored or added an assist. Goalies Emma Santucci and Melanie Mandell teamed up for the shutout.
Zoe Verni, Emily Duarte, Mariana Lee, and captains Clare McClintock and Eve Wulf all have been playing outstanding field hockey.
Post-deadline, the team faced St. Luke, Convent of the Sacred Heart, and a Homecoming game Saturday against Emma Willard. State tournament play begins on October 31.
