Delicias Arellano reopened on April 5, a little over eight months after a fire severely damaged the restaurant at 382 Midland Ave.

The grand reopening of the restaurant, which is also known as Midland Avenue Deli, was held on the afternoon of Easter Sunday.

“Come and enjoy great food, good company, and a fresh new start,” Delicias Arellano posted on Facebook, along with a promise of free guacamole for the day. “We look forward to seeing you again.”

On July 28, 2025, Rye firefighters responded to a report of smoke in Delicias Arellano’s basement, located flames on a wall in the kitchen, and put out the fire. There were no injuries, but owner Elizabeth Rendon said the fire was devastating for her business, which opened seven years ago and was her only source of income.

A GoFundMe page raised $24,905, including $1,000 donations from Daniel Milanez, Mary Slater, and Kerry Tepedino. The Rye Fire Department’s union also pitched in shortly after the fire, presenting the restaurant with a check for $1,000.

“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing by us during this incredibly difficult time,” the owners wrote on the GoFundMe page. “Your support means everything to our family.”
