A wrong-way crash on Interstate-95 last Friday has left one person in critical condition, according to reports.
The crash happened near Exit 19 in Mamaroneck on Feb. 21, according to News 12, when Walter Perez-Menchu, 38, drove southbound in the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer.
Perez-Menchu was transported to Westchester Medical Center in critical but stable condition after the crash, News12 reported.
The Friday incident is the latest report of wrong-way driving in the area.
Back in December, Westchester County officials pledged to assess safety and signage on the Hutchinson River Parkway after ex-Rye Brook Mayor Joan Feinstein entered the parkway the wrong way and crashed into a car carrying a family of five.
Similar to Friday’s accident, one of the last high-profile crashes on I-95 also involved a tractor-trailer just off Exit 19 in August 2024. A month later, seven people were hospitalized after a Bee-Line bus crashed into a vehicle on I-95 over Labor Day Weekend.
