We, the Mayor of Rye and five members of the Rye City Council support Matt Fahey, who is running for election to fill the final year of the term of our late, Councilmember, Rich Mecca.
We support Matt because he has the knowledge, experience, and temperament to get things done for Rye. He is a small business owner, former major bank executive, and longtime Rye resident with a stellar track record of volunteering for Rye, including:
Matt has demonstrated he is a leader who knows how to achieve progress for Rye. His knowledge of City operations and finance will allow him to hit the ground running, which is critically important in this off-cycle election.
We represent a collection of party affiliations, one Republican, two Democrats, and three Independents. Matt is an Independent, running on the Republican line, who has pledged to be non-partisan in his decision-making. Matt understands, as do we, that partisan politics has no place in our city’s governance.
We are a group of volunteers, dedicated to working together for the best interests of Rye. We see Matt as someone who will listen, work collaboratively, and add value, so we, as a Council, can continue to make progress on the City’s most pressing issues: flood mitigation, advancing critical infrastructure upgrades, sustaining our quality of life, and protecting the environment.
For these reasons, we strongly endorse Matt Fahey for City Council this November.
