A Razor-Sharp Final
Manursing Island Club tennis professional José Salazar and his former University of Arkansas Razorback teammate Michael Redlicki won The Richard-Collins Invitational Doubles Tournament at Manursing August 2. They beat Teddy van Eck, a senior at Brown University, and Guillermo Núñez, a former T.C.U. star and current Old Oaks Country Club tennis professional, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.
After the match, Salazar, who hails from Spain, said this win, his third, was especially sweet because he now teaches at Manursing. Redlicki is currently ranked No. 344 on the ATP Tour.
van Eck grew up playing tennis at Manursing and said the tournament is one of his favorites because of the level of competition. Núñez, who hails from Santiago, Chile, was a Doubles All-American at T.C.U.
Since 1961, The Richardson Invitational has attracted the finest amateurs and professionals from across the country. In 2019, the tournament was renamed The Richardson-Collins in memory of club member and former Dartmouth player Albie Collins.
