A Whole-Hearted Thank You to Mayor Cohn

A Whole-Hearted Thank You to Mayor Cohn

We are writing to express our support and appreciation of Mayor Josh Cohn. We are grateful for his leadership during this tumultuous year. In the midst of a pandemic, shutdowns and re-openings, Mayor Cohn has provided respectful, capable, and polite service to Rye and its residents.

Since the start of his term four years ago, Cohn has brought his knowledge, thoughtfulness, and professional skillsets to benefit Rye. Under his leadership all four unions now have contracts, the City has won several grants with associated capital projects now in planning and will end 2020 without a deficit, despite reductions in City income due to Covid-19. These are just a few of the long list of good things to happen for the City.

In City Council meetings he is steady, calm, and polite and keeps the meetings on track. Those who have gone to him with a question or suggestion have found that he listens with an open mind. If he disagrees, he explains his thinking respectfully.

We also appreciate the humanity and sense of humor with which Cohn operates as Mayor. His official email communications are a perfect example of this. The weekly “Coronavirus Update” keeps us up to date on the ever-changing Covid-19 situation, encourages us to comply with all public health measures while acknowledging that it is difficult, and gives us the information we need to get through this. Additionally, he shows his dedication to our community with his presence at seemingly every event in town.

With so much uncertainty in our lives these days, it is reassuring to have Josh Cohn as our Mayor. We want to say thanks!

Sincerely,
