Maria Skamangas
When Jacques Loupiac decided to sell La Panetière, his iconic French restaurant, two years ago, it was a difficult decision. But he was confident in the agent he chose to list the Milton Road property, Maria Skamangas of William Raveis.
While the sale didn’t happen overnight, Skamangas is heartened that the property went to the right buyer. “They fell in love with it from the start and came back to see it at least five times, but Covid caused a lot of interruptions. The buyers are restaurateurs who are restoring and modernizing the interior.”
Skamangas added, “So many people here, and nearby, are relieved La Panetière, which had a 36-year history, wasn’t bought by a developer and torn down. It holds so many memories.”
The property was sold for $2.3 million and a new restaurant, rumored to be a steak restaurant, will open there in 2022.
Skamangas got her start in real estate with the legendary Lottie Eisenberg in Harrison. “I learned everything from her.” After Eisenberg retired, Skamangas went to work for Houlihan Lawrence. Eleven years ago, when William Raveis opened an office in Rye, they asked her to join them. Over the years, she has achieved numerous sales awards, including William Raveis Chairman’s Elite Club, Westchester Magazine’s Five-Star Agent award, and the Platinum Sales Award from the Westchester County Board of Realtors.
