Shortly after 5:30 p.m. on July 25, Rye Police officers initiated a vehicle pursuit after a license plate reader identified a red Ford Mustang on Milton Road as stolen out of Ramapo, New Jersey.
The pursuit continued through the south end of town. RPD ended its pursuit when the Mustang entered I-95 while traveling at a dangerous rate of speed.
Village of Mamaroneck officers detained 24- year-old Qasim Ahmed Muhammed of Jersey City in their jurisdiction for RPD. He was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd Degree, a Class D felony; Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree, a Class A misdemeanor; and Reckless Driving.
During an inventory search, a switchblade and two sets of brass knuckles were found in the stolen vehicle.
Muhammed was ticketed to appear in Rye City Court August 9.”
