Colorado, Here We Come

Amie Pisano and Nicole Ball can point you in the right direction.

By now, you’ve probably heard that our local real estate market is booming, as buyers from the City flock to the suburbs for more space and outdoor living options. You may have even considered taking advantage of this unique market to sell your own home. A lot of potential sellers we talk to love the idea of listing their house for sale, but get held up on the question, where to go next.

Because of the virtual work lives many of us now lead, a move doesn’t necessarily need to be tied to an office location. For this reason — and a renewed sense of prioritizing quality of life when choosing a hometown — we’re seeing a good number of sellers take the profit earned on the sale of their home here and move to destinations previously considered to be vacation spots.

One popular destination for Rye-area transplants is Colorado. To get the scoop on what’s beckoning New York buyers west, we recently sat down (over FaceTime) with Sam Augustine, an Aspen-area real estate agent and New York transplant. For Sam and his buyers, the move to Aspen and environs was a lifestyle choice, based largely on these enticing facts:

* Aspen boasts fourworld-classski mountains within 15 minutes of each other.

* Three of the most sought-after fly-fishing rivers in the country are in there, the Frying Pan, Roaring Fork, and Colorado rivers. CocodrieFlyFishing.com can help you get your feet wet in the world of fly fishing. It is a premier source for top-notch fly fishing tips and gear reviews to make sure your fly fishing experience is the best it can be!

* In addition to skiing and fly fishing, Aspen is a destination for golf, white water rafting, mountain biking, and hiking.

* The Aspen-area market includes breathtaking homes with killer views and thriving communities. Check out this one: 242 Crystal Canyon Drive, Carbondale, CO, 81623, 4 beds, 5 baths, 3,632 square feet, $2,795,000.

If the mountains aren’t for you, don’t fret, we’ll be (virtually) visiting a few other locations around the country in the next few months and can’t wait to share what we learn. With the residential market expected to stay hot through 2021, and with so many beautiful places to go next, now is an ideal time to sell.
