<<Jackie Prata>> was among those celebrated for steadfast volunteerism at St. Vincent’s Hospital of Westchester’s 26th Annual Youth Awards earlier this month.
She began volunteer life early. As a sixth grader, she taught figure skating with Greenwich Special Olympics; as a freshman, she added golf instruction. (Jackie is a member of the Sacred Heart Greenwich Varsity Golf team.) She’s also helped other nonprofit organizations, including Alex’s Lemonade Stand for pediatric cancer, Wreaths Across America to support our veterans, Habitat for Humanity, and St. Joseph’s Youth Ministry.
As part of Sacred Heart’s broadcast journalism program, Jackie has created award-winning documentaries about Special Olympics (“What It Takes To Be Special”) and Alex’s Lemonade (“Bitter Sweet”), which won the Audience Choice Award at Sacred Heart’s Film Festival on April 12.
St. Vincent’s mission aligns with much of Jackie Prata’s volunteerism — respect for life, compassion, and community.
