David A. Meise died peacefully on July 29, 2023 at Bridges by EPOCH, a long-term care home home in Trumbull, Conn. He was 93.

Born in the Bronx, on January 14, 1930, he was the son of Augustus and Alice Meise. He was a graduate of Fordham Prep (1947) and Fordham University (1957).

A proud veteran, he served in the Army during the Korean War (1951-1953) and achieved the rank of corporal while stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.

He began his professional career in marketing and advertising at Batten Barton Durstine & Osborn in 1947 but transitioned to purchasing, a career-building decision that would lead to lengthy stints with a young Marriott corporation, where he worked directly for Bill Marriott, American Airlines, and, eventually, Intercontinental Hotels Group, where he finished his private sector career as General Manager of the Intercontinental Purchasing Services division. After retiring from Intercontinental in 1991, he ran purchasing for New York Medical College until retiring for good in 2007.

In his youth, he was an avid fly fisherman, proudly tying his own flies. In his later years, you would frequently find him on a tennis court. But it was his Catholic faith that defined him. He and his wife Ann were daily communicants and devoted to their parish, Church of the Resurrection in Rye, where he was head usher for many years as well as a Eucharistic Minister.

His beloved wife, Ann Keeney Meise, predeceased him, as did his brothers John and George, and sister Ruth Brady. He is survived by his three children: Christopher Meise and his wife Joyce, Ann Marie Moayedi and her husband Kourosh, and Justin Meise and his wife Erica; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial was held August 4 at Christ the Redeemer Church in Milford, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
