Doubling the Impact to Fight Hunger

Last month, Rye YMCA Togetherhood members and camp families teamed up and collected 116 grocery bags and boxes filled with non-perishable donations for a food drive for Bread of Life.

The project was the Rye Y’s fourth food drive for Bread of Life. Bread of Life meets the urgent food needs of underfunded and undersupplied pantries, shelters, and soup kitchens throughout southern Westchester County. It serves 600 people every other week at its Rye food pantry alone and thousands more at other facilities.

Togetherhood is a YMCA social responsibility initiative that engages volunteers of all ages in community service projects. Through Togetherhood, the Y has partnered with Open Door Family Medical Centers, Jay Heritage Center, Edith Read Sanctuary, Rye Nature Center, American Cancer Society and The Sharing Shelf, among other organizations.
