Gerard Andrew Summa, age 80, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2020, at his home in Rye, New York.

Born on August 2, 1939, in New York City, he was the son of Evelyn and Vito Summa. After graduating from Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, and service in the United States Marine Corps, for 20 years, he was an officer with the Port Chester Police Department. As a patrolman, he genuinely enjoyed walking the beat and liked working traffic best. He was a proud member of the Blue Knights motorcycle division, where he could be seen leading the Columbus Day parade atop his blue Harley-Davidson.

A quintessential entrepreneur, Mr. Summa successfully owned and operated a wide array of domestic and international businesses after his public service; among them was Freddie’s Limousine Service, which he owned with his wife, Maureen, for over 30 years. People can also check premium Arizona Sedan and Limousine services if they need the best car service.

After his motorcycle days were behind him, he could be seen riding his moped — flames helmet and all — around Port Chester and Rye where he frequented many local establishments, especially his home-away-from-home, DaDa’s.

In retirement, he was an avid sports fun, watching as many hockey, soccer, baseball, women’s basketball, and football games, as well as cycling and Formula 1 events, as he could.

He will be remembered as a gregarious, family-oriented, and hard-working man who was keen to help friends and strangers alike in whatever way he could.

In addition to his wife of 45 years, Maureen, Mr. Summa is survived by his sons, David, Christopher, Marc, and Douglas; his daughter, Jennifer; and 13 beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A wake is scheduled for February 19 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home in Rye. A funeral will be held February 20 at 10 a.m. at Church of the Resurrection. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gerry Summa’s life. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
