Giving Comes Full Circle

Giving Comes Full Circle

SOUL RYEDERS, a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to supporting and empowering those affected by cancer, has announced its 2018 grant awards. The recipients for 2018 are: Cancer Support Team, Support Connection, LIVESTRONG at the Rye YMCA, Camp Kesem, Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, and Open Door Family Medical Center. A total of $90,000 was distributed among those six programs.

The funds will be used to provide cancer education and screenings, support groups and individualized counseling, activities for children with cancer and those whose parents have cancer, and financial support to help offset expenses not covered by insurance.

The Grant Committee, co-chaired by Sandy Samberg and Heidi Kitlas, selects organizations that use innovative ways to improve the quality of life for local families affected by cancer and whose programs complement the services of SOUL RYEDERS.

Interested committee members serve as liaisons for each of the nonprofits which receive grants. They include Shari Balaish, Anita and Stuart Beeber, Joie Cooney, Lisa Dominici, MaryEllen Doran, Lesley Findlay, Stephanie Gardner, Jackie Mazzilli, Wendy Nagle, Amanda Nash, Nicole Saglimbene, and Holly Simmons. Funds are raised through the organization’s Giving Circle, which was established in 2015.
