Create with Clay

It’s amazing what can happen with a ball of clay. Ages 7 to 15 are invited to create their imaginings at Clay Art Center from July 8 through August 23. Campers from 7 to 11 will focus on hand-built sculptural art and ages 12 to 15 will go there and beyond, to learn wheel throwing.

Kids can unplug with mud in half- and full-day sessions. From week to week, campers will be making fairies and gnomes, perfect pets, wacky wheels, ancient architects, creatures great and small, and functional pottery.

Registration begins March 8. Those who register by March 22 will receive a 10% discount.

Out and About in Nature

The spirit of exploration and discovery infuses every camp experience at the Rye Nature Center. And the older a camper is, the greater her or his horizons.

Teens (grades 8, 9, or 10) can go on Paddle Adventures from July 1 to August 16.

For students entering grade 6 or 7, the opportunity to become a Naturalist in Training offers them both freedom and responsibility — they facilitate weekly animal meet & greets for the younger campers. 

Within the 47-acre preserve, Discoverers (grades K-5) will hike and forage and expand their knowledge of natural history and STEM.

The pre-K Explorers will get acquainted with the forests, ponds, and wildlife.

Themes change weekly and include Making Waves, Survival Skills, Animal Adaptations, and Bugs, Bugs, Bugs!

The Rye YMCA believes that summer camp is about forging friendships and learning new skills. They offer six different summer experiences: Kinder (ages 3-6); Discovery (ages 4-11); Sports (ages 5-14); STEAM (ages 6-11) has a different theme each week, including Space Station, Aquatopia, Circus, Harry Potter, LEGO, and Engi-nuity; Gymnastics (ages 6-11); and Teens (ages 11-15) where adventure is part of the fun and training opportunities abound for those who want to become leaders and counselors.

The Heart of the Arts

The Rye Arts Center invites all ages to “hone your skills, feed your hobbies, and fill your schedules with fun.” They offer week-long classes in the visual arts and STEAM, as well as music lessons and one of the best musical theater programs in the New York metropolitan area.

Camp-tastic!

With more than 50 indoor and outdoor options, Rye Recreation is the place to be in July and August.

Kiddy Camp (ages 3 to 5) runs from 9 to 12. Free play, story time, singing, arts, and games are on the schedule. Online registration begins Feb. 27 at 10.

Day Camp for kids in grades K-6 offers a little bit of everything fun — group games and sports, scavenger hunts, dance & movement, rope braiding and beading. Drop off is 8:30 and pickup at 3. Online registration begins Feb. 27.

For students entering grade 7 or 8, Camp 78 is just the thing with different daily adventures and an array of trips. Online registration begins Feb. 13 at 10. 

Specialty Camps run from July 1 through August 30. Online registration begins March 5 at 10.
