Fridays @theBurns – A family-friendly event

Jacob Burns Film Center’s Media Arts Lab in Pleasantville is hosting a night out for both parents AND kids. Adults without kids are also welcome, of course! For the grown-ups, a delicious meal will be provided by Peekskill’s Benny’s Brown Bag, with beer brewed locally by Wolf and Warrior Brewing Company. Wine will also be available. While the adults socialize, kids will enjoy a pizza, popcorn, and a screening of “Sing,” a 2016 animated film about anthropomorphic animals in a singing competition.

405 Manville Road. Tickets: $50 (adult), $20 (child)

Opening Friday, Feb. 16

David Brighton’s Space Oddity

Tarrytown Music Hall

Far from a typical cover band, SPACE ODDITY is live theater and a musical journey through David Bowie’s career, starring David Brighton, a performer who is widely considered to be the closest one can get to Bowie himself. The costumes and staging reflect Bowie’s artistry and evolving identities. Brighton has been performing SPACE ODDITY for over 20 years, and when Bowie was alive, the two shared a stage and starred in a commercial together.

Tickets $45-$75

On view until February 28th

“Home Sweet Home” at the Flinn Gallery, Greenwich Library

In “Home Sweet Home,” four women artists (Brigid Kennedy, Misla, Mary Tooley Parker and Nitza Tufiño) communicate the physical and emotional meaning of home. Across styles and mediums, the artists provide a glimpse into the places they call home and the environments, furnishings, and textiles that define those intimate spaces.
