Joseph LaDore

Joseph Anthony LaDore passed away on February 27, 2021 at his home in Rye, N.Y., surrounded by his family.

Born on September 22, 1929, he was the son of Donato and Carmela (Samela) LaDore. He grew up in Port Chester and attended its public schools.

He served his country faithfully and honorably as a Sergeant in the US Army. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, a Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal, and recognition as a Squad Leader.

For some thirty years, he was a truck driver and proud member of the Teamsters Union.

On August 14, 1961, he married Mary Slater.

Joe LaDore, who was affectionately called Honey by his family, enjoyed watching the NY Yankees, football, walking along Oakland Beach and the Playland Boardwalk, and tending his vegetable garden in the summer. What he treasured most was spending time with his family, especially his four grandsons.

In addition to his wife of 59 years, Mary LaDore, he is survived by his three children, Janine (Glen) Carpinello, Michelle (Dan) Conway, and Daniel and his girlfriend Kathleen; and his grandsons, Gavin, Tyler, and Ryan Conway, and Zachery Carpinello.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 2 at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye followed by burial with honors at Greenwood Union Cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of Westchester in White Plains.
