The St. Regis Residences, a collection of well-appointed condominium homes rising on Old Post Road in Rye, need no further introduction, but we have to say a few words about the new General Manager, Julie Oliff.

She’s a dynamo, who “lives and breathes” the luxury brand. She moved cross country to promote the St. Regis’ first standalone residence, after serving as Director of Operations for the St. Regis Residence Club in Aspen, Colorado. Oliff not only brings with her 13 years of experience working at prestigious resorts but an international perspective, as well.

“I grew up in Lausanne, Switzerland — my father was a Business professor at IMD (International Institute for Management Development),” she told us in a recent interview in our office. French is her mother tongue and she learned Greek and Latin in school. Her major at University of St. Andrew’s in Scotland? Counterterrorism. “It’s not the usual path to a career in luxury lifestyle,” she acknowledged with a hint of mystery, but she’s glad to have found a profession she loves and can talk about!

With the St. Regis Residences in full construction mode, Oliff’s office is now in downtown Rye, inside and outside the former TD Bank building on Purchase Street. She loves the fact that it’s an easy walk from her apartment.

Oliff reports that the model units will be open this fall and two local and award-winning designers, Dale Blumberg and Elissa Grayer, have been hired to design spaces that work like single-family homes and are livable and inviting.

As she meets new St. Regis owners, she lets them know that she will be there for them every step of the way. “Not only will owners have all the amenities without the hustle and bustle — event spaces, library, theater-style screening room, fitness room and spa, indoor pool, golf simulator which may have the best golf simulator software, and catering kitchen, among them — but they can expect our brand service.”

Julie Oliff is always willing to go the extra mile. When her sister, whom she is very close to and proud of, was deployed by the military, Julie decided to do something in her honor. “I wasn’t a good swimmer, or much of a runner or cyclist for that matter, but I trained and pushed myself and completed my first triathlon,” she said. Not long after, she was competing in Ironman events.

After doing a little investigative work, she learned that the Rye YMCA has a lot of triathlete members. Don’t be surprised if she’s the first person in the fitness room when the Y reopens next month.
