<<Rye Library’s Law and Order>>

The Rye library is offering <<Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Workshops>> for ages K-5 from 2-4. On February 20, the focus is fingerprinting; on February 21, it’s all about secret codes; on February 22, it’s secret messages and invisible ink; on February 23, kids will test their CSI knowledge and crack a case.

Space is limited. Pre-registration is required at ryelibrary.org.

<<Rye Recreation’s Sports to Science>>

Grades K-4 will explore <<Reactions in Action>> at the Rec on February 20 from 9:30-12:30. Entering the world of chemistry, they will learn about the reactions that occur when different substances are mixed.

The fee is $55 for residents, $65 non-residents. Visit ryeny.gov/recreation.cfm to register.

Grades K-5 will get the chance to <<Tee It Up>> from February 20-22 from 9:30-12:30 at the Osborn Gym. Children will learn the fundamentals of golf, advanced techniques, and etiquette.

All equipment supplied. Returning students will advance to higher levels. The fee is $200 for residents, $225 non-residents. Register at ryeny.gov/recreation.cfm.

Grades K-4 will have the chance to be <<Junior Explorers>> on February 21 from 9:30-12:30 at the Recreation Center. See how illusion and reality meet and explore the science of art and magic. Kids will test out the ideas that make favorite toys and tricks work, including planes and gliders.

The fee is $55 for residents, $65 non-residents.

<<Rye Nature Center’s Big Chill>>

The Rye Nature Center will be teaching preschoolers through fifth graders all about <<Nature in Winter.>> Glaciers will be covered on February 20; surviving the snow on February 21; melting ice and other chemistry phenomena on February 22; and navigating the woods on February 23.

All workshops will be held from 10-2. The cost is $70 for members, $80 non-members. Register by calling 967-5150.

<<Rye Arts Center’s Creative Corner>>

<<Ceramics Workshops>> will be offered from February 19-23, from 10-12 for ages 8-12, and from 12:30-2:30 for ages 5-7. Children will learn a variety of pottery techniques and create and glaze all their pieces.

The fee is $205 with a discount for members. Visit ryeartscenter.org to register.

<<Drawing, Painting, and Collage Workshops>> will be held February 19-23, from 10-12 for ages 5-7 and from 12:30-2:30 for ages 8-12. Young artists will experiment with color and texture through drawing and painting, and will be exploring a different medium each day (acrylics, pencil, watercolor, charcoal, and more). Hands-on instruction will be accompanied by a little art history as well.

All supplies included. The fee is $205, less for members. Register at ryeartscenter.org.

<<Drum Circle Week>> from February 19-23 will feature tom toms, bongos, tambourines, and more from 10-10:45 for ages 3 and 4, from 11-11:45 for ages 5 and 6. Students will experiment with creative rhythms in a fun environment.

<<Rye YMCA’s Fun Clubs>>

At <<Basketball Vacation Club,>> from February 19-23 for ages 5-11, instructors will focus on skill development and fundamentals, as well as game play. Half day, along with full day sessions that include swimming, games, and crafts are available.

Half Day: Family: $64/day; Youth: $74/day.

Full Day: Family: $84/day; Youth: $96/day.

The <<Gymnastics Vacation Club>> for ages 5 and up covers drills, tumbling, and open workouts from February 19-23. Half day, along with full day sessions that include swimming, games, and crafts are available.

A <<Teen Travel Vacation Club>> from February 19-23 will take grades 5-9 on different daily excursions, including museums, aquariums, paintball, and indoor fun. Teens will be chaperoned by the Y’s professional Teen Staff. Fees include transportation, admission, and rentals if needed.

Family: $130/day; Youth: $140/day.

A four-day <<Teen Fitness Vacation Clinic>> for ages 11-15 from 9:30-12 includes agility, cardio, games, strength, conditioning, and instructional swim. After completing the clinic, 14-year-old participants are eligible for a Teen Passport Card to use the Fitness Center.

Family: $144; Youth: $191.
