Lawrence Glynn

Lawrence John Glynn of Rye, N.Y., passed away on September 12, 2018. Born in Queens on November 5, 1939, he was the eldest son of Lawrence and Mary Gannon Glynn. After graduating from Blessed Sacrament High School in New Rochelle, Class of 1957, he earned a Bachelor of Science from Fordham University in 1966, and a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1972.

After faithfully serving in the United States Army Security Agency in Taiwan from 1959-1962, he became an attorney in private practice in White Plains for over 40 years.

Mr. Glynn was devoted to community service and was an avid supporter of youth sports. He volunteered as a coach of several New Rochelle and Rye Little League teams, was a Commissioner of Rye Little League, and was one of the founders of the Rye Mariners Youth Hockey organization. From 1984 to 1986, he served on the City of Rye Fire Police Patrol, and from 1984 to 1994, on the City’s Zoning Board of Appeals.

Among his eclectic range of interests were cooking, baseball, photography, boating, golf, and Dixieland jazz.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Barbara Ormerod-Glynn; his daughter, Carolyn Glynn of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; his son, Lawrence Caruso Glynn, wife Amanda, and grandchildren Tyler, Tea, and Trey of Flushing Meadows, N.Y.; and his son, William Glynn and wife Katherine of White Plains. He is also survived by his brother, Daniel Glynn of Marietta, Ga.; and his sister, Regina Early of Dallas, Ga.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated September 20 at Church of the Resurrection.

Donations in Mr. Glynn’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
