At the top of many last-minute holiday wish lists were at-home Covid testing kits. Unfortunately, they were in short supply and even Santa could not deliver any.
But in his Christmas Eve message, Mayor Josh Cohn announced that, thanks to the County, on Monday, December 27, at the Rye High School parking lot, starting at 10, some 800 kits, one per household, will be distributed on a first-come basis. Bring proof of residency. Wear a mask. Kits will be brought to your cars.
While Mayor Cohn was glad to be the bearer of good news, he wrote: “I think everyone understands the limits of these test kits and the need for us to guide ourselves according to the symptoms we may be experiencing.”
He also urged Rye residents who have not yet been vaccinated or boosted to do so without haste.
As of December 22, there were 298 reported cases of Covid in Rye.
