Marion Milazzo

Marion Milazzo

Marion Goane Milazzo, 87, of Greenwich, Conn., died September 28, 2018.

Born on December 21, 1930, she was the daughter of Frank and Nellie Wood of Rye. After graduating from Rye High School in 1948, she began a career in various capacities in the medical field, which she pursued throughout her life in New York, Connecticut, and Florida.

In 1950, she married Charlie Goane with whom she had five children.

An avid reader from a young age, her sisters fondly recalled that growing up Marion would often sneak off to the library when it was time to do chores. She loved to travel and was always packed and ready to go, and she enjoyed knitting gifts for her family, who were her greatest joy.

She freely lent a helping hand to her friends and neighbors at Agnes Morley and enjoyed volunteering at Family Centers, Julian Curtiss School, and Greenwich Senior Center.

Mrs. Milazzo leaves behind her children: Michael Goane, Nancy Sparan (Bobby), David Goane (Doris), Betsie Goane-Gazzola (Gary), and Chris Goaneleaves; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Walter Wood, sisters, Audrey Crawford and Dorothy Briganti, along with Maryann and Kerrin Welsh, her “adoptive” daughter and granddaughter, and former husband Michael Milazzo.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Frank and Barry Wood, and her sisters, Eleanor Simpson and Lorraine O’Connor.

Donations in her memory may be made to Family Centers of Greenwich.
