Mary Pryor

 

Mary Catherine Eleanor Pryor of Rye Brook, N.Y. passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 13, 2021. She was 92.

 

Born in New York City on May 3, 1928, she was the eldest of Margaret (Frain) and Thomas McAllister’s four children.

 

On October 15, 1949, she married Joseph Pryor at the Church of the Ascension in New York City. They had six children, whom they raised in Rye.

 

Mrs. Pryor held several managerial and administrative positions and concluded her career working in the Rye City Assessor’s Office.

 

Beyond devoting herself to family, who were foremost in her life, she was a vital member of Resurrection Parish, where she taught CCD, coordinated fundraising events, and served as a lector and Eucharistic Minister. She was also an active member of Helping Hands.

 

Mrs. Pryor was predeceased by her husband Joseph, her brother Thomas, and her sister Anna. She is survived by her children: Maureen (Joseph Montanaro), Anne (Steven Ackerman), Dennis (Holly Turner), Eileen (Daniel McGann), Stephen (Nancy Quaranta), and Michael; her twelve loving grandchildren: Patrick Nolan, Eileen Picker, Erin and Alana Ackerman, Ian and Aidan Pryor, Sarah and Caroline McGann, and Bridgette, Kelly, Sean and Kaitlyn Pryor; her seven great-grandchildren; and her brother, Michael.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Church of the Resurrection on January 19, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla.
