Robert Michael Pinto, 85, a lifelong resident of Rye, N.Y., passed away at his home surrounded by family on July 22, 2020. He was the son of Michael and Mildred (Lupo) Pinto.

 

A member of the Rye High School class of ’53, Mike, as he was known, graduated from the NY Photograph Institute and the Plumbers Union School. He went to become a self-employed plumbing contractor.

 

Mr. Pinto loved his community and served as a volunteer firefighter, rising to Captain of the Milton Fire Department. He was also a member of the Rye Police Auxiliary.

 

On June 16, 1956, he married Mary Joan Swenning, a marriage that would last 64 years.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Michael, Mark (Tanya), and Diane Bojes. six grandchildren: Caiti Orlando, Keith Pinto, Sarah Boyle, Chelsea Pinto, Jennifer Borjes, and Matt Borjes; and four great-grandchildren.

 

A private Funeral Mass was held at Church of the Resurrection. Mike Pinto was buried at St. Mary Cemetery next to his beloved son Christopher, who died on January 5, 1984. The family asks that memorial donations be made to the Christopher J. Pinto Memorial Scholarship Fund at John Hopkins University (www.scholarshiplibrary.com).
