Miller Clark Goes Mobile

By Melanie Cane

Does your pet need to see a vet, but you can’t take her there? Have no fear, Dr. Paul Amerling and his team at Miller Clark Animal Hospital now make house calls.

At your home, they can provide a myriad of services, including annual wellness exams, sick visits, vaccinations, diagnostics, therapeutic laser treatments, hospice, and euthanasia. They also deliver medications and food. With their mobile van, they will transport your pet back to their hospital or to a local referral facility for further care, diagnostic tests, or surgery as needed.

Currently, it is Dr. Amerling or Dr. Rebecca Weitzner who arrives with a technician or assistant. They also offer technician-only house calls for minor things like blood draws, suture removals, and blood pressure checks.

Dr. Amerling started the service to reach out to people whose pets do not receive regular veterinary care because of work schedules or mobility issues. He saw a need and a growing popularity in mobile vets. “So many pets and pet owners are afraid of the doctor’s office, that providing home care is much easier,” he said. With seven vets and seven techs, he has the staff to provide the service. His service is unique because he is mobile and has a bricks-and-mortar hospital where the animals can be transported for further care.

Scheduling is on a first-call basis. The cost is $90 in addition to the $79 exam fee. The cost of a house call by a technician is $40.

The mobile service is not meant for emergencies, but they can transport your pet to an emergency facility if necessary. To schedule an appointment, call 698-1756. Miller Clark Animal Hospital is located at 1621 Harrison Avenue in Mamaroneck.
