Minor League Players Have Their Day in the Sun
All-Star Saturday for Minor League players is one that ages 7 to 9 look forward to, as was the case at the third annual event June 16 at Osborn School. Boys from six teams competed in five events: fastest pitch, speediest player, most strikes pitched, furthest throw, and a home run derby. Afterwards, the boys ate their share of hot dogs from Walter’s food truck and congratulated their peers at the award ceremony.
The fastest runner around the bases was Caio Haley of the Emeralds. Warren Blake, who plays for the Lugnuts, had the fastest pitch. Teddy Fairhurst of the Lake Monsters, pitched the most strikes. Owen Roberson from the Thunder threw the ball the furthest, and Davis Goodman from the Storm hit the most home runs. Team Thunder won the day with the highest average score for all five events.
