New Go-To Site for Moms

By Georgetta L. Morque

Who could offer better resources for moms than moms? Several resourceful and enterprising moms are taking that concept to the next level with Ryeandryebrookmoms.com, a new site dedicated to helping moms with everything from not-to-miss events to finding summer camps.

“It’s like one-stop shopping,” said Melissa Kaminsky of Rye Brook, who runs the site along with Megan Sullivan of Greenwich. Ryeandryebrookmoms.com is part of The Local Moms Network, which evolved from Greenwichmoms.com founded by Layla Lisiewski. With its proven successful model of partnering with local businesses and meeting the needs of busy mothers, the network has taken off. A Harrison site just launched and new sites are planned for Armonk, Bedford, and Chappaqua. There are now sites in Texas and Florida and more are in the works.

Ryeandryebrookmoms.com, which has generated more than 1,600 unique users and over 5,340 page views since it launched just a few months ago, is well organized and easy to navigate. Its resources section covers a wide range of services from dentists to pet care and includes a category for new moms, which lists child birth classes, 24-hour pharmacies and support programs, and a category for moms of teenagers, which highlights college prep, drivers’ education, and teen summer travel. “We try to be as all-encompassing as we can,” said Kaminsky, who has an IT background and, by day, is a real estate broker with Julia B. Fee in Rye. She finds the site especially useful for moms new to the community.

A comprehensive calendar includes classes and programs for kids, Rye Newcomer events as well as adult activities, such as parenting lectures, yoga and fitness classes. Moms can also find discounts from local businesses partners. Blog content covers timely topics and there’s also a monthly newsletter, all to help moms on the go become moms in the know.
