Nourishment for the Soul on Saturdays

Nourishment for the Soul on Saturdays

Christ’s Church Rye is pleased to introduce a new worship service this fall.

Designed as an option for seekers, families with sports conflicts, adults who work or travel on Sundays, and teens who need a day to sleep in, Soul Food is Saturday Church — a bit shorter, a bit less formal, spiritually rich, and grounded in scripture. For 45 minutes, leave behind your screens, your stress, and your schedules to nourish your spirit with sacrament and song.

Week by week, Soul Food will cycle through a rotation of contemporary worship. Each evening service will have its own shape and character while sharing a common intention: to draw us closer to the love of God through Jesus Christ and deeper into relationship with one another and our wider community. Together, worshippers will explore a diversity of musical expression and prayer practices that, while anchored in the Episcopal tradition, are welcoming to all.

The first service, Saturday, September 22 at 5, will feature a jazz combo, fresh baked communion bread, an adaptation of a Kenyan Eucharistic Prayer and lots of candles. All ages and faith backgrounds are joyfully welcome.
