On August 3, at approximately 12:30 a.m., officers from the City of Rye Police Department were called to assist the Westchester County Police Department in locating a female in the Marshlands Conservancy who had been reported missing by her family. She had last been seen at around 10 p.m. the previous day.
Units searched the park and surrounding area for over nine hours. Assets involved with the search included the Westchester County Police Aviation Unit, City of Rye Police Marine Unit, and the City of Rye Police Drone. The subject was eventually located around 9:30 a.m. by the RPD drone in a remote area by the shoreline. The subject appeared to be uninjured and in good health.
The Sergeant operating the drone, in conjunction with a County officer, guided ground units to the individual, who was escorted back to waiting family members.
RPD would like to extend thanks to all responders who assisted with the search and provide the individual and their family with a positive outcome to this incident.
