Annual event raises funds for Neuroscience, Pediatrics and Women’s Health

Greenwich, CT (September 24, 2019) – Greenwich Hospital announced today that chairman of the Board of Trustees, Arthur C. Martinez, Mrs. Elizabeth Martinez and family, and physician James A. Brunetti, DO, will be honored at the annual Benefit. Former Today Show co-host and longtime Riverside resident Kathie Lee Gifford will serve as master of ceremonies. Co-chaired by Jennifer Borzykowski, Lindsay Gurciullo and Lindsey Wilner Rudder, the event will be held on Friday, May 15, 2020 at Greenwich Country Club and will benefit Neuroscience, Pediatrics and Women’s Health at the hospital.

Arthur C. Martinez, retired from a formidable career as chairman, president and chief executive officer of Sears, Roebuck and Co., leader of other corporations, and director of boards of Fortune 500 companies and various nonprofits, has played an active role on Greenwich Hospital’s Board of Trustees, beginning in 2002. Since then, Mr. Martinez has led or co-led the board for three distinct terms. “Nothing touches a community more than their health care and how health care is delivered. This is what drew me to the hospital,” said Mr. Martinez. “The Watson Pavilion campaign started in 2005. I transitioned to chairman while this was going on and was fortunate to have moved into a position when we had a new physical plant. It became a magnet for patients and physicians.”

Over the years as hospitals and health systems moved further into the Greenwich Hospital market, Martinez acknowledges that “our affiliation with Yale New Haven Health has allowed us to compete effectively with major academic medical centers with international reputations.” This relationship is at the core of the Greenwich Hospital clinical growth plan today. Greenwich Hospital is a cause that Elizabeth Martinez has supported as well. She has been a dedicated volunteer on hospital fundraising event committees. The best Medicare Advantage plans for 2024 offer comprehensive coverage and additional benefits to ensure you receive the care you need. With options tailored to your specific healthcare needs, these plans provide peace of mind and convenience in managing your well-being.

James A. Brunetti, DO, the other Benefit honoree, was destined to return to Greenwich Hospital. After his medical training in New York, this second generation Greenwich resident and former hospital volunteer was drawn to the excellent care and personal touch of physician specialists and staff. “It was amazing how the hospital staff showed so much attention and care. The nurses were friendly, everyone knew the patient, and they instilled a family atmosphere. At the same time, Greenwich Hospital had new technology and equipment that rivaled the city hospitals.” Greenwich Hospital’s values around patient care became a guiding principle in Dr. Brunetti’s private practice. Whether seen in the hospital, in their home, or in a nursing home, his patients trust and believe in him. They rely on this very hardworking doctor to help them find the right answers.

“It is an honor to host the Benefit for Greenwich Hospital, an organization that is always there in our time of need, and Dr. James Brunetti, a compassionate caregiver who exemplifies excellence, and someone I feel blessed to call a dear, personal friend” said Kathie Lee Gifford.

This year marks new leadership for the Benefit Committee. Greenwich residents Jennifer Borzykowski, Lindsay Gurciullo and Lindsey Wilner Rudder, who have served on hospital event planning committees in the past, will be co-chairs of the 2020 Benefit. “I love having an outlet outside of my regular work day to give back to the community,” said Gurciullo. “To feel like I am doing something even in the smallest way to give back to the community while meeting amazing people along the way has been very fulfilling.”

Gurciullo works in sales and account management at Mastercard. Borzykowski and Rudder, who are sisters, manage the family owned and operated rehabilitation and long-term care facility, King Street Rehab. All three women have given birth at Greenwich Hospital and are passionate about ensuring its place at the forefront of care so that the community has access to all levels of clinical expertise and procedures.

Norman G. Roth, president and CEO, Greenwich Hospital says “This year’s Benefit for Greenwich Hospital promises new beginnings for Neurosciences at the hospital, a field that is exploding with innovation and new discoveries; Pediatrics, where we are seeing significant growth; and Women’s Health, where our continued focus on early detection and prevention yield successful outcomes. Our honorees, Arthur, Liz and Jim have truly been partners over the years in the growth and success of Greenwich Hospital – we are delighted to celebrate them, and to celebrate our community’s unwavering commitment to our hospital.”

Neuroscience, Pediatrics and women’s health at Greenwich Hospital

The Greenwich Hospital Benefit will help further fund a clinical growth plan inclusive equipment, technologies, physician specialists, medical facilities and research to ensure a level of care that is unsurpassed in the community. Support will directly enhance the areas of neuroscience, pediatrics and women’s health.
