Sixty Magical Years

Rye Presbyterian Nursery School celebrated 60 years of exceptional early childhood education at a Parent Social event September 21. “Cheers to 60 Years”, co-chaired by Vicki Whatley and Caitlin Layng, drew hundreds of parents, teachers, and good friends under a light-filled party tent and a sky full of stars.

Directors Kristin Kumar and Margaret Sculti shared: “To be a part of this piece of history for our school is one we will always cherish. RPNS is more than just a school, it is a community that builds everlasting memories for all. We are proud to reflect upon the past and look forward to continuing to build confidence and inspire curiosity and wonder in young children for many years to come.”

At the celebration, Business Manager Mary Canneto and classroom teacher Kathleen Henk were toasted for being part of the RPNS faculty for 30 years. “It is a true accomplishment for these professionals, and we are so fortunate to have them as a part of our school community,” said Mrs. Sculti.

While enjoying cocktails and conversation, guests perused the silent auction attractions and had the opportunity to choose from wonderful sign-up parties. One of the favorites was the legendary Margarita Night, which sold out in a flash. In addition, parents donated 70 bottles of wine from around the world that made up the wine raffle.

Funds raised from this event will go towards the school’s greatest needs. This year, the school plans to create a woodworking space in the bike track area, as well as promote horticulture through min- greenhouses in classrooms. They also will contribute towards the planting of trees around the new parking lot.
