There?s Heart to His Art

Nothing makes Geoff Tischman happier than getting an email from a family saying it was his photo that led them to their newest family member.

The renowned pet photographer and longtime Rye resident not only brings together his lifelong love for animals and photography to his family and corporate clients, but also to the many deserving shelter animals looking for a loving home. Volunteering his professional photography skills, Geoff works with the Westchester-Southern Connecticut rescue community photographing adoptable pets, adoption events, fundraising events and galas, and calendar images.

?First impressions are everything, and as most people start their search for a new pet online, it?s vital to have a great image of the adoptable pet that captures the attention of potential adopters and compels them to make an appointment and meet the pet face-to-face,? says Tischman. To help promote shelter pets, he has contributed photos for ?Rye Rescues?, a regular column in The Rye Record for the last five years, highlighting Rye families and their adopted pets. He is also an active member of Hearts Speak (heartsspeak.org), a global network of photographers and other creative professionals who donate their time and services to animal shelters and animal welfare organizations across the country. He says, ?I?m super-proud to be a member of the Hearts Speak team ? working with this group of fabulous, like-minded artists is the most rewarding work I do. They inspire me to give more and to be a better photographer.?

His portraits of adopted animals and their owners adorn the walls of the ASPCA in New York City and his work with celebrities and their beloved animals, including Georgina Bloomberg, Cheyenne Jackson, Bernadette Peters, and Aida Turturro, has earned him a reputation as one of the country?s premier pet photographers. His pet photographs have appeared in The Journal News, The New York Daily News, The New York Post, and People Magazine.

His ability to capture the true spirits of pets, as well as the special bond between pets and their humans, is rare and has endeared him to family and corporate clients.

This time of year is an especially busy one for Tischman, who takes fabulous family portraits for holiday cards and creates unique gifts. If you would like to book him for a session, with or without a pet, he is offering a special for November and December.?With?a?45-minute session, $150 weekday/$200 weekend,?you will receive?one?gift print, 20% off additional prints and 10% off other products and digital files.?He will be in Rye for the entire week and weekend of Thanksgiving. If the kids are home from?college or you?are?having an extended family gathering,?you can contact?him at?geoff@gmt-photo.com.?For?more information, visit?www.tischmanpets.com.

Today, while Geoff Tischman, who has two rescue pets, an Australian Shepherd named Lexy, and a cat, Batman, still shoots family and corporate event/head shot photography, his main focus is animals. His work has appeared on promotional material for Best Friends Pet Care and on packaging for Stop and Shop pet food, ASPCA pet products, and Chicken Soup for the Soul pet products.
