Life Time Fitness has just landed in our area, offering everything imaginable when it comes to healthy activity. It’s the company’s 109th location.

At a whopping 206,000 square feet, Life Time Athletic at 1 Westchester Park Drive in Harrison offers an array of lifestyle activities, family recreation, fitness, and spa amenities. The list of studios, programs, and services includes personal training, weight-loss and nutrition, swimming, basketball, yoga, spin, cycling, Zumba, and Pilates, to name a few.

The extra mile is what makes this place special.

An up-to-date tennis complex boasts ten indoor, climate-controlled courts with executive dressing rooms, a pro shop, and a viewing lounge and bar (yes, a bar). And, there are squash courts, too.

The rock-climbing wall is available for party rental. There are two indoor Olympic-size pools — one for training, and the other for recreational use. There are also outdoor pools, with a snack shack, playground, and sunbathing area for the warmer months.

or busy moms, particularly, Life Time offers their family package members two to three hours of childcare a day (included in the membership cost). For children under 3, a parent must be on-site (at the gym), but for ages 3-11 parents are not required to be at the facility and can drop children off at the “kids academy” for any of their “eleven engagement programs,” ranging from karate to arts and crafts to language immersion.

A full-service beauty salon offers blow-dries and mani-pedis. For healthy snacks, the Life Café offers a good variety.

By summer, Life Time plans to have a staff of nearly 300. When the facility opened last month, nearly 6,000 area residents had already joined. While monthly membership is not inexpensive —$159 per person, $249 for couples, $339 for families — this fitness center goes beyond the gym experience to offer what they call an almost “country club” feel. Amenities are there to accommodate anyone seeking a healthy lifestyle.

There is no contract required for membership. An initial 14-day money-back guarantee is offered to all who sign up, testimony to the fact that this place is one patrons believe in.
