A Special Thanks to Rye!

The Children’s Philanthropy of The Woman’s Club of Rye would like to thank the community for its support and generosity over the past decades.

The Children’s Philanthropy of The Woman’s Club of Rye would like to thank the community for its support and generosity over the past decades.

Whether it was taking a fall photo in the park at Outdoor Family Portraits, eating a cupcake during the Halloween Bake Sale and Window Painting, redecorating your home with a rug from the Annual Rug Sale, wearing that lovely pair of earrings you “had to have” from Designing Women, or enjoying an evening with friends while planting seeds for Grace’s Children’s Garden, your support of the Children’s Philanthropy enabled us to enrich the lives of children in the community.

The Children’s Philanthropy distributes all proceeds raised during the year through grants, scholarships, and sponsorships to local organizations. Programs that enhance the childhood experience along cultural, educational, recreational, and emotional lines are considered.

We support summer camp scholarships, Halloween window painting, and youth basketball at Rye Recreation, the Rock on Geology program for 5th graders at the Rye Nature Center, the Summer Enrichment Program at the Rye Free Reading Room, scholarships at the Rye Historical Society, the World Music program for kindergartners at the Rye Arts Center, scholarships at Kids’ S.P.A.C.E., youth programs at the Rye Youth Council and teen programs at the Rye YMCA.

Each year, two Rye High School seniors who have excelled in volunteering aimed at helping children, receive awards in appreciation of their selfless efforts in working directly with children and making a difference in their everyday lives.

Most importantly, your continued generosity has made it possible to help families with children in the Rye schools struggling during this very difficult economic period. This past year, The Children’s Philanthropy assisted 80-plus Rye families by providing food gift certificates at Thanksgiving and during Spring break when hot lunches were unavailable. During the holidays, gifts of clothing and other essential items were purchased, wrapped, and distributed.

The proceeds we have raised have helped a child somewhere in our community. As our organization continues to grow stronger and raises more funds, we will be able to give more back to our future, to our children!

It has been a successful fundraising year for us and this is due to the amazing support we have received from the incredible Rye community.

Have a safe, fun summer! We’ll be back in September for our first fundraiser, Outdoor Family Portraits. Hope to see you there!
