A Stylish Cut for Brenda Maeda

The harsh winter brought with it a lot of bad hair days and hard times for hair salons. One of the casualties was Brenda Maeda’s seven-year-old Rye hair salon, Hair and Beyond on Purdy Avenue. Last month she closed the business. But as the saying goes, when one door closes, another opens — wider. Brenda is also the owner of Hair Creations in Harrison, which is a large enough salon to handle all her clients from Rye, Harrison, and beyond.

Merging the salons will benefit both clients and stylists, says Brenda. “By combining two great teams of stylists, I can keep the salon open seven days a week (Monday by appointment only), the stylists will learn from one another, and I can offer more services.” Testimony to the quality of Hair Creation’s staff is that they were chosen to do the hair for an upcoming TLC special in which four brides compete for a free honeymoon.

Hair Creations has 12 chairs, 16 staff members, and Brenda will be on location at all times, rather than splitting her time between two salons. Additional services will include nails, eyelash extensions, and make-up. She is also offering a walk-in blow-dry special (depending on staff availability) for $25 Tuesdays through Thursdays.

Brenda hopes to remain part of the Rye community by continuing to participate in fundraising events and to provide spectacular professional services to her Rye clients.

As always, she will be running holiday and event specials, including bridal packages, prom packages ($125 hair and make-up), and an Easter special ($150 for $200 worth of services).

Hair Creations is located at 245 Halstead Avenue. There is ample parking. For more information, call 630-4530 or visit nyhaircreations.com.
